Hiawani limited has been contracted to upgrade 7.8km stretch of road from Banak to Wautogik in Wewak district, Midway Pacific limited will work on 12.8 km Balif to Araseli road in Maprik district, Kaystar Construction limited will work on two roads, 6.5km Munji to Haripmo road in Yangoru Saussia district in East Sepik and 25km Pasi to Krisa road in Vanimo Green district in West Sepik province.

The Contractors signed their contracts last week and will begin work on 15th July.

The contractors are given 12 months to complete the projects as these are the roads that will further increase the production of Vanilla, Cocoa and Fisheries projects supported by the EU-STREIT PNG Programme.

EU-STREIT PNG Programme Coordinator Dr Xuebing Sun said “I’m pleased to announce that this is a milestone achievement for the road transport infrastructure component to ensure we assist the government in its efforts to bring markets closer to the unreached in our focus areas”.

These roads will give access to thousands of people to transport their produce to the market.
