RPNGC and Life Insurance Cooperation Sign MoU

A signed agreement between the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) and Life Insurance Cooperation will allow for the provision of life and health medical insurance coverage for police officers in the county.

The life insurance covers funeral expenses for (police officers only) and medical insurance for spouses of officers and their children.

The insurance only applies to the 3,000 police officers that are members of the Police Union.

Police Commissioner, Gari Baki, when handing over a cheque of K500,000 to the insurance company said former commissioners have tried to establish such arrangements to assist members of RPNGC and he is glad it has eventuated.

“This means the life of police officers will be insured,” Baki said.

The K500,000 cheque was presented to Life Insurance Cooperation today, as the first deposit under the agreement.

Police are the first disciplinary force to have such an agreement in place.

The agreement is part of a three year Memorandum of Understanding.
