Robbery Case Involving Policemen Adjourned

The six police officers accused of robbing the owners of a car dealer in Port Moresby, had their case adjourned for one more week.

This comes after their lawyer was not in court today, as he had other cases to attend to.

The six were charged with Intent to extort, Intent to compel; and Armed Robbery, under the Criminal Code Act.

The six police officers accused in the robbing of 2 Fast Motors in March are; Samuel Turi, Robert Nelson, Tuom Tutur, Arnold Zilong, Carl Nouamla and Jeremiah Duigun.

All are members of the Police Mobile Squad and are based in Port Moresby.

It is alleged that the six entered the 2 Fast Motors premises on the evening of March 13, without a search warrant and stole a licensed firearm, and counterfeit cigarettes along with five mobile phones.

Following the alleged offence, NCD and Central Divisional Commander, Sylvester Kalaut told EMTV News, the search was done without the consent of his office, and confirmed it was illegal.

They were refused police bail but were each granted K1,500, National Court Bail by Justice Panuel Mogish.

This matter has been undergoing committal proceedings since March this year.
