Residents Raise Concerns on City’s Traffic Congestion

by Adelaide Kari – EM TV, Port Moresby

Priority traffic lanes given to Pacific Games transportation, has caused slow traffic movement around the city.

City workers are complaining that it takes almost 2 hours in slow traffic, before they get to work.

Many are arguing that while priority should be given to the pacific games, there also needs to be consideration given to the residents of Port Moresby.

This situation is serious for Doctor Peter Olali, who travels from Gerehu to Port Moresby General Hospital at 3mile.

For PMV passengers, their situation is not much easier, with a limited number of buses available; racing for the bus is a daily struggle, and then having to wait again or be stuck in traffic. The public also highlight the issue of higher charges for PMV bus fares.
