by Michelle Amba – EM TV News, Port Moresby

The cleaning up of Port Moresby continued today as more people joined in, including students of Pacific Adventist University and family members of Police personnel at Gordon Barracks.

Communities living on the NCD and Central Province border joined in the clean-up of the Moresby North East Electorate today, mobilising in smaller groups and cleaning the roadside.

The cleanup exercise initiated by the Moresby North East electorate was initiallymeant to provide some form of financial assistance for the unemployed and youths to watch the Games.

Long time staff of PAU, Justin Jopha, is one out of over one thousand people taking part in the cleanup in preparation for the Pacific Games.

Though this is a short term goal to see a cleaner city, the district administration has long term plans to keep the city clean.

The district has allocated 1 million kina for this exercise engaging people from the electorate to take part in this clean-up exercise.

More than 2,000 t-shirts have been distributed to participants.
