PNGDF Recruits Urged to Maintain Fitness and Discipline

Papua New Guinea Defence Force Commander, Brigadier General Gilbert Toropo, during his official opening address to the recruits and instructors on Monday said that PNGDF prides itself on discipline and professionalism.

“I must urge you all to strive to maintain high standard of self-discipline and fitness level. As commander of Papua New Guinea Defence Force, I expect you to display nothing less than the highest standard of self-discipline, “said Toropo.

Toropo also reminded the recruits to respect ones rights and protect those who are vulnerable while building comradery that they can cherish beyond their training enlistment process.

A total of 125 recruits started their training on Monday. The basic recruits course will run for three months.

Successful recruits who pass out will be posted to their units to continue on with their Initial Employment Training at their units for the next three months to become permanent soldiers of the PNGDF.
