Pundari tours Napa Napa Refinery

Minister for Environment and Conservation John Pundari is impressed withInterOil’s Environment Management Systems.

This was after a tour ofthe Napa Napa Refinery just outside Port Moresby last week.

Beginning his tour, a presentation was first made onthe refinery’s engineering process and performance and alsotheir environmental management systems.

They included marine and coral reef monitoring, water treatment plants, and upcoming projects such as waste oil interventions and a domestic incinerator.

The Minister wasthen taken on a tour aroundthe 76.8 hectare refinery, to seethe extent ofthe refinery’s development which is still undergoing.

The refinery’s state ofthe art control room was also viewed.

Minister Pundari was more than impressed and commendedInteroil for their commitment to ensuring environment safe practices are followed and worker safety is of paramount importance.

Mr Pundari saidthe management systems shown byInteroil proverdtheir commitment to sustainability through environmentally safe practice mechanisms.

He added withinthe next decade,the goal was to nationalizethe company.

Minister Pundari thankedInteroil for the tour and pledged more cooperation from his ministry and department.
