Public Servants Urged to Work With a Purpose

Public Service Minister, Elias Kapavore, in his recent trip to Enga Province, urged public servants to work with a purpose to serve the nation.

Minister Kapavore says public servants, bureaucrats, and politicians needs to work together to connect the missing link.

He explained that each party is working in isolation, which prevents services from reaching the people.

Many of Papua New Guinea’s public servants have been getting public criticisms of poor work ethic and an increase in corrupt practices in the last 15 years.

Many have been accused and taken to court for misusing public funds as well as taking bribery, poor punctuality to work, and slow performances.

The Pacific Leadership Precent Program, heavily supported by the Australian Government in Port Moresby was established to instill moral ethics in public servants.

Public Service Minister, Elias Kapavore says his Ministry is stressing on the core values of becoming honest at the workplace.

Kapavore says few public servants are a problem to the public service workforce despite its working policies.

Minister Kapavore says immediate line managers or bureaucrats should be held accountable for non performing staff.

Minister Kapavore says connecting the missing links and working with a purpose to bring development and service to the people will see change in the public service workforce.
