A Morobe Provincial Government Executive was killed, and a female passenger is fighting for her life after a car crash at Lae’s Salamanda last night.

The man who drove the vehicle died after being rushed to the Angau Hospital accident and emergency unit from the accident scene.

The incident happened at around 11 pm last night.

It’s understood that the driver lost control of the vehicle and went off the road, hitting a rain tree on along the Markham Road next to the lae golf Club.

Eyewitnesses said they came out to find two people seriously injured. They took them to Angau Hospital. The driver died from his injuries. The only woman passenger is fighting for her life.

“The man didn’t respond but the woman was unconscious, we put them on a car bound for Angau,” said Anton Yamson who lives nearby and responded to the crash.

This is the second accident involving a Provincial Government vehicle that has claimed lives.

Parts of the car were scattered all over the road. Lae Police were out last night on patrol and responded to the accident.
