POM RFL Selections

by Elijah Lavett – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

The Port Moresby Rugby League competition, played at the Murray Barracks, has set a platform for selection into the PNG Inter-city cup, and the SP Hunters.

Selectors from the respective teams in the Inter-city Cup have not been following proper procedures in scouting players from the POM RFL.

POM RFL has provided a good number of players into the Inter City Cup Competition.

They have been setting standards and grooming players from the town’s competition.

Selectors from the Intercity Cup Competition have not been following proper procedures in scouting players, which has become an issue for officials.

“We put them through the clubs so they can pick the players suited for their teams and their particular positions,” says POM RFL Coordinator, Meke Maino.

Some of Papua New Guinea’s great rugby players have come out of the POM RFL.

The competition has developed greatly over the years and has many future plans.
