Minister for Justice and Attorney General Kerenga Kua has called on prisoners to utilizethe parole system.
Minister Kua saidthe parole system is an avenue for prisoners to be released early after completing a third oftheir jail terms.
Whilethe parole system is available for prisoners to take advantage,they first must demonstratetheir ability to reform or rehabilitatethemselves while servingtheir jail sentences.
Minister Kua urged prisoners to seek advice from Correctional Officers andthe Parole Beard on howthe Parole System works and how to get an early release.
He clariflied that imprisonment is a time for prisoners to slow – down and reflect onthe pastopresent and future life. The prisons must not be viewed as a place of punishment but rther a place to reflectolearn and change for the better.
The Attorney General and Minister for Justice urged all prisoners to utilizethe Parole system and also reflect on howthey can contribute meaningfully inthe country.
