Prince Andrew to Officiate at the 2015 Pacific Games

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, will officially open the 15th Pacific Games in Port Moresby on July 4th this year.

His Royal Highness has accepted invitation by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, to visit PNG and officially open the 2015 Pacific Games.

O’Neill was delighted when officially announcing this today.

The Prime Minister said “it is a measure of the standing the Games enjoys that his Royal Highness has agreed to officially open the event.”

The Prime Minister was certain athletes and games officials from across the Pacific, as well as PNG, will accord His Royal Highness a warm welcome.

This will be Prince Andrew’s second visit to PNG. His first official visit was in 1991, when he officially opened the then South Pacific Games in Port Moresby.

This second visit, after twenty four years, will be greeted by fans and athletes from over 20 Pacific countries who will be attending the 2015 games.

The event is expected to be the biggest ever. Games will be played for a duration of two weeks from 4th – 18th July.
