Preparations For PNG’s Major Up-Coming Events

Minister for 2015 Pacific Games and Chairman of the 2018 APEC Committee Justin Tkatchenko says the road to hosting the two major events is above satisfactory.

Minister Tkatchenko says current infrastructure of facilities is a boost to prove to other APEC member countries of PNG hosting the event.

With only a year to the 2015 Pacific Games and three years to host the 2018 Asia Pacific Economic Corporation or the APEC summit, PNG is seeing changes in host city Port Moresby.

APEC Committee Chairman and Minister for Sports and National Events, Justin Tkatchenko, says that 6 billion road project, National Convention Centre, Indoor Sports Complex and the upgrading of stadiums is a milestone achievement for the country.

Meanwhile Minister Tkatchenko said safety of APEC members and officials will be a priority between nations. This was evident with the training last week between PNG defense force personnel and US experts at the Murray Barracks in Port Moresy.

Tkatchenko says the recent hosting of Japan’s Prime Minister, Shinzu014d Abe and his delegation was hailed a success. He says the hosting of APEC summit will prove that PNG is a rising economy and a vibrant player in the region.
