Potape Welcomes Court Decision and PM’s Statement on Hela Provincial Seat

The decision by Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, for a no by-election for the Hela provincial seat has been welcomed by Komo Magarima MP Francis Potape.

In a statement yesterday, MP Potape said the court ruling for Deputy Governor, Thomas Potape, to remain as the provincial political head must be respected.

MP Potape says this must be valued by members of the Hela Assembly.

He praised the decision by National Court Judge, Collin Makail, for Deputy Governor Thomas Potape to remain as the political head before a decision will be handed by the courts on August 25th.

The Komo Magarima MP also condemned the announcement by Deputy Prime Minister Sir Leo Dion, ruling Philip Undialu as Governor.

“We totally see Minister Dion’s statement as faults and misleading”, said Potape.

Hela Deputy Governor, Thomas Potape, called on Koroba Kopiago MP, Philip Undialu, to stop making misleading statements as Hela is facing many issues at hand.

The Komo leaders also demanded the government to respond to the petition presented by the PDL 1 and 7 landowners stating the resource owners deserve their cut to the multi-billion Kina project.
