The preliminary finals were held over the weekend, with teams from each division battling for the top four positions, to advance into the semi-finals, and later the grand final.
In the women’s division, Sunam went into the last weekend of competition, as the favourites to secure the minor premiership.
After a double defeat over the weekend, particularly against Multi View Production who contested well with superb goal keeping from PNG’s goal keeper, Rachael Rabbie, the Manus dominated team had edged over the line, securing a 2-1 win progressing into next weekend’s grand finale.
In the men’s division, Bladez had to secure a win, or draw with Wanderers on Saturday, to bag the minor premiership title, based on competition points solely. But still in the lead with a hefty goal average advantage they progress to the finals, against Sunam.
In Sunday’s other matches, Bladez defeated Golden Eagles 9 nil, and United thrashed Global 6 nil.
