Pomio District in the East New Britain Province could be the next major tourism destination for Papua New Guinea.
From giant cascading waterfalls, river systems abundant with wildlife to endless sandy white beaches stretching for miles and colossal cave systems, Pomio has some of the best tourism attractions in PNG and indeed the world.
Pomio MP, Elias Kapavore, led a delegation from the Tourism Promotion Authority (TPA) to see some of these sites and says his District Development Administration (DDA) has taken the initiative to partner with TPA for developing the district’s untapped tourism potential.
He also revealed some sites like the Blue Hole Dive which he believes will attract tourists from all over the world.
“We have some of the best tourism sites in the world, and we believe we can develop it for the benefit of my people as well as the country’s benefit,” Kapavore said.
Meanwhile, TPA has donated a computer and a camera to the district for them to promote their tourist attractions.
