Polye to announce new tax regime

Treasury Minister Don Polye has announced movers to introduce a new tax regime.

Treasury Minister Don Polye asked institutions likeInternal Revenue Commission anPNG Customs to increasetheir revenue making.

He made this announcement last week when officiating atthe launch oPNG Customs five year service plan.

The treasure said when parliament resumes next week he will announcethe new tax regime.

Polye’said this isthe government’s mover to recoup all monies lost in tax including all outstanding tax owed tothe government.

The government is yet to collect K2.1 billion in tax going back many years.

PNG Customs Commissioner Ray Paul said his organisation cannot do more atthe moment because of its current capacity.

“Currently we are on about 50-60 per cent strength on deck to do our job. I know we can and I’m confident with that,” says Paul
