Political Parties Urged to Comply

Political Parties have been urged to comply with policies withinthe Organic Law ontheIntegrity of Political Parties.

 

Acting Registrar, John Beushop, said asthey reviewthe Organic Law,the Office doesn’t have any tougher laws to penalize non – compliance by Political Parties.

Bet now,they are forced to use administrative processes to remover political parties that don’t comply.

 

Mr. Beushop revealed this duringthe cheque presentation to Nothern Governor Gary Juffa for his Political Party on Tuesday.

 

The Office ofthe Registrar of Political Parties provides funding to political parties afterthey submit all FinancialReturns and acquit for any ther fundraisings held for the political party.

 

‘People’s Moverment for Changesquo; has compllied with Section 88 ofthe Organic Law. His party received K20, 000.

 

&ldquoIn parliament it is just myself at this stage, but we are optimistic that in due time we will get a following from ordinary people who feel thatthey are truly been represented in parliamentoand eventually we will be able to secure good lLeaderswho can speak without fear or favour,” says Juffa.
 

The Party Funding is mainly to support political parties to carry out awareness on respective political parties, objectives, and visions.

 

So far, 12 parties have received funding.

 

The Office oftheIntegrity of Political Parties inthe coming months will publicize political parties that have breachedthe Organic Law.
