Police Policy Paper for Public Comment

A two-day open civil forum has been held in Lae to gauge public views on outstanding police department policies and issues affecting service delivery.

In attendance were over 20 members of the Lae community which included business houses, community leaders, police hierarchy and other stakeholders.

The exercise, also known as a white paper presentation, is inviting commentary on a wide range of issues which include, as a top priority the rise in crime, ill-disciplined officers, political partiality and interference, and community policing.

The tour will set up an open forum in Mt Hagen for a Highlands region audience this Thursday, while the Southern region will see a date set for next week in the National Capital District. The New Guinea Islands stop was completed last week.

Members of the public are advised to attend.
