Police Brutality brought up in Parliament

Police Beutality was onthe radar again this time inthe National Parliament yesterday.

Member for Kabum Beb Dadae questioned Police Minister Nixon Duban overthe killing of a student in Morobe allegedly by police andthe wounding of 74 men in Port Moresby.

Mr Dadae wanted to know what Minister Duban andthe police hierarchy were doing about Police Beutality.

Responding, Minister Duban said he was saddened thatthese actions by a few rogue policemen continued despite launching its modernization program more than a month ago.

Meanwhile, in a media statement Police Commissioner Tom Kulunga said at least one police officer has been suspended overthe attack on 74 men in Port Moresby.

He saidthe alleged actions ofthe police men were totally unbelievable.

He issued instructions for those involved inthe assault and ther outstanding cases such asthe forcing of two young men to perform indecent acts to be immediately suspended and trlied both administratively and criminally.
