Pokowas Serves 40 Years with Air Niugini

“I thank Air Niugini for providing the necessities to me and my family in the last forty years.”

This was the response from the national airline’s longest serving employee, Peter Pokowas, in a reflection of his journey of employment with the national flag carrier.

Pokowas has, clocked 40 years with Air Niugini making history, since joining the airline company in 1976.

However, his formal employment with the aviation industry began in 1973, with Ansett Australia and Trans Australia Airlines -TAA, recording 43 years.

A character of his own, yet simple, humble and cheerful, from N’dranou village in Manus Province.

He worked as a traffic officer in the flight operations department, and later held some managerial positions, and keeps a good record of the strong of events that occurred during his time.

“Honesty, loyalty and commitment are my three motto.”

Pokowas has thanked Air Niugini for providing for him and his family since day one of his employment.

“I am more than happy to thank Air Niugini, for looking after my family and I over the years,” he said,

What Pokowas wants to see, is for the national airline to be PNG oriented and move forward, as it has grown from strength to strength.

“I want to see that Air Niugini continues to progress and create more job opportunities for young people,” Pokowas said.
