PNGTA Concerned Over Teaching Service Fixation

The PNG Teachers Association is supporting calls for the Teaching Service Commission to finalize the Teaching Service Fixation Agreement.

National General Secretary, Ugwalabu Mowana, said despite the progress and support by the Government, an agreement must be reached by the end of this month.

He made this statement yesterday while extending another 7 days ultimatum for TSC to respond.

Mowana said the Union is aware that the National Executive Council has made some decision on the pay policy and wants TSC and other related agencies to ensure that an agreement is reached.

Moana said despite the progress made by the Government, attempts must be made to solve this issue which has been outstanding for some time.

“We call on the Government to ensure that mechanisms and structures are in place to deliver teachers’ salaries and entitlements in all provinces”, said Mowana.

The National General Secretary made these statements yesterday at the PNGTA office in Port Moresby.
