PNG’s Middle Distance Runner Secures Placing in the US

PNG middle distance runner, Tuna Tine, left the country on Sunday for the USA, where she will join her teammate and friend, Esther Boram, at the New Mexico Military Institute in the city of Roswell.

Tine, who completed year 12 at the AOG Christian Academy in Lae last year, has a full scholarship to run cross-country for the New Mexico Military Institute in the National Junior College programme.

Athletics PNG President, Tony Green, says the 21-year-old already has a lot of international experience.

Green says her humble nature makes her a great role model to younger athletes, and she fully deserves this wonderful opportunity.

Tine is expected to arrive in Roswell in the US on Monday afternoon, local time, which will be Tuesday morning PNG time.
