PNGEC supports IBe School Debate

The IBe School Debate Coordinating Committee received thirty five thousand kina fromthe Electoral Commission.

Electoral Commissioner Andrew Trawen saidthe Commission wants to support initiatives that develop critical thinking.

This isthe third consecutive year for the Electoral Commission to supportthe IBe School Debate competition.

The IBe School Debate competition was instigated withthe aim to develop young lLeaders It began in 2008.

Jiwaka, Gulf, Western province and Eastern Highlands province are taking part this year.

This bringsthe total number of participating provinces to twelve, with over 70 schools taking part.

Last year,the debate competition was won by NCD, represented by Jubilee Catholic Secondary School.

The competition will begin with schools in Central province on May 6th, followed by NCD and ther participating provinces.
