By Lillian Sopera Keneqa – EMTV News, Port Moresby This week PNG Air will be providing tickets to Buk Bilong Pikinini staff to travel to their Library Learning Centres around the country for in-library monitoring and training. Over the past three years, PNG Air has assisted the organisation with travel for all teacher- librarians to travel to Port Moresby for annual training, as well as transportation of BbP’s School Library Reestablishment kits to schools in all provinces of PNG. The support allows BbP to train teachers and support schools with high quality literacy materials and books. More than 30,000 books have been flown in to schools in Bougainville, Morobe, Alotau, Goroka, Tari, Western Province, Rabaul and Vanimo. Many more library kits are currently being packed to go to more schools in need across the country. The kits contain 1000 books, teacher’s reference materials, readers, picture books, atlases, dictionaries and much more. BbP Founder and Chair, Anne-Sophie Hermann, said: “We are immensely grateful for this most significant commitment to education for PNG’s children by PNG Air. She added, “We are looking forward to continue to provide children across PNG with access to books and valuable learning opportunities and give as many children as possible the best start to their education.” ]]>
