PNG Taekwondo Federation will be aiming for 18 gold medals come next year.
36 athletes have been selected in preparation for the 2015 Pacific Games under the new executives.
The recent National Championships held last year in Port Moresby was a success story for PNG Taekwondo Federation.
Taekwondo Clubs and provincial teams took the centre stage, displaying their skills and tactics.
36 athletes were selected from the championships also including athletes who took part at the Wallis and Futuna mini Pacific Games held last year.
Team Taekwondo came in close, bagging 10 silver medals; but now they will be fighting tooth and nail to bag 18 Gold medals on home soil.
It’s only 17 months to go before the opening of the 2015 Pacific Games here in Port Moresby.
The Sports Ministry today came on board, supporting the Federation with one hundred thousand Kina.
The Federation under the new executives will be using the money to buy vital electronic training equipment in preparation for international meets.
Pascoe is the newly elected vice president and will be assisting Peter Miria who is the president. Samantha Kassman is the secretary of the Federation.
PNG Taekwondo Federation National Coach, Edward Kassman, said this year will be a hectic year for the Federation with the hosting of the Southern Region Tournament in February, Victoria Open in March and PNG Open in June from the 21st to 22nd .
16 athletes will be taking part in the individual events, while 2 male and female teams comprising of five athletes each will participate for team events.
Nima snatched a bronze medal in Wallis and Futuna and is looking forward to move up the medal tally with his teammates, Anton Aitsi and Max Kassman who are currently under training.
