PNG Prepares for Rugby League World Cup 2017

Plans for the Kumuls and Raggianas preparations to the Rugby League World Cup 2017, are underway.

PNGRFL will be meeting with the Board to finalise preparations for both teams leading up to the World Cup.

After the PNGRFL Board meets, they will appoint a Head Coach for the National Women’s Team. The new coach will prepare the team for the World Cup and will be involved in Talent Identification.

The Kumuls and Raggiannas preparation programs for 2017 will be held around the same time.

The programs for the teams will be finalised, when the Board meets.

A Kumuls camp was to be held at the end of this year, but has been deferred to February 2017.

The 24-man Kumuls team will be finalised in September next year, a month before the World Cup. There will be two pool camps and 3 international matches in the lead up to the World Cup.

The World Cup ticket pricing and match schedules will be made known to the public once a Rugby League World Cup Local Organising Committee is set up in Port Moresby.
