PNG LNG Project 90% Complete

PNG LNG operator Esso Highlands Limited reported thatthe project is more than 90 percent complete and is on schedule for first delivery of Liqueflied Natural Gas duringthe second half of 2014.

 

The Antonov cargo aircraft operations into Komo airfield were completed on 13th Augusto2013, while installation of equipments delivered from Komo tothe Hides Gas Conditioning Plant is still underway.

ThPNG LNG project Executive Decie Autin said Esso Highlands has begunthe commissioning phase atthe LNG Plant in preparations for the first LNG production in 2014.

 

This includes sending gas from Oil Search’s Kutubu Central Processing Facility tothe LNG plant to provide power and enable testing and commissioning of key facilities and equipment.

 

Drilling at Well pad Beis complete, andthe drilling rig is being moverd tothe next well pad to support futher drilling activity.

 

Miss Autin said as forecasted last year,the estimated cost ofthe project remains at 19 billion US dollars. This excludesthe Port Moresby administration facilities and shipping.

 

She said this reflects disciplined project management in a challenging working environment.

 

Miss Autin added thatthe project has been able to maintain its schedule in PNG under a broad range of technical, operational and administrative circumstances.

 

She saidthe developer is focused on a disciplined project execution without futher cost increases.

 

ExxonMobil confidently said it will continue to assess and advance new expansion and development opportunities inthe country.
