PNG Lewas in Samoa for East Asia Pacific Regional Qualifier

In cricket, the PNG Lewas have left for Apia, Samoa to compete in the ICC East Asia Pacific Regional Qualifier.

The Lewas are hoping to make it to the Women’s World Cup Qualifier in England, in February 2017.

Having the host country Samoa beating them at the 2015 Pacific Games, coach Rodney Maha said the Lewas have improved where necessary, and are focused to win this time around.

They will be facing a formidable opponent in Japan, and Maha gave his assurances that the Lewas will put up a good fight.

The eight-day qualifier starts tomorrow with Samoa, Japan and PNG competing in a double round-robin format.

The winner of the Regional Qualifier and World Cup Qualifier will then compete in the ICC World Cup in July 2017.
