PNG Kumuls Yet to Appoint a New Coach

by Elijah Lavett – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

The PNG Kumuls will play their first match of the year on May7,  against the Fiji Batis at the Parramatta Stadium in Sydney, Australia.

With three months remaining before the match, the PNGRFL has yet to appoint a new Kumuls coach, following the departure of Mal Meninga last year.

PNGRFL Chairman, Sandis Tsaka, said the board is in discussion to appoint a temporary coach for the match against Fiji.

He also said they will be announcing the PNG Kumuls Coach for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup in June this year.

With many PNG players making it onto the international stage through the Hunters Program, these players will also add depth to the Kumuls.

PNG’s 2017 world cup team preparations are sure to kick off as soon as a new coach is appointed.
