PNG Host 8th Council of South Pacific Commissioners Conference

PNG continues to host regional events with the 8th Council of South Pacific Commissioners Conference beginning today in Port Moresby.

The conference is to collectively bring together, ideas from around the Pacific, and find solutions to give young people better quality of life.

Acting Director General for the National Youth Development Authority, Norit Luio, opened the 4-day event at the National Parliament this morning.

The 4 days of events began with representatives sharing ideas through an open forum to bring ideas and align with individual governments to support youths through scouting programs.

Key agendas to be discussed are obstacles and challenges youths face in the Region.

The formation of the Council of South Pacific Scouts Association is basically to enhance co-operation among Pacific Island countries, through Scouting Associations, for empowerment programs aimed in becoming responsible citizens, and leaders in their respective countries. 

Chief Scout and Governor General, Sir Michael Ogio, will officially open the conference tomorrow at Lamana Hotel.
