Prime Minister Peter O’Neill was in Manila last week to hold talks with Government authorities of the Republic of Philippines. In a meet with business giants, PM O’Neill says the good relationship will extend to create more dialogue in business, people to people and resource sharing for capacity building.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Finance Minister James Marape, East Sepik Governor Allan Bird, and other government officials.

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill says talks with the business community in Manila are to extend and improve current trade affairs. He says PNG and Philippines share common aspects of trade. He says the visit hopes to bind the two countries together and support each other as countries in the region.

Meanwhile, the Philippines business community acknowledges the business relationship, stating areas of improvement in trade will be considered.

Later on, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill visited the Rizal Monument at the Rizal Park in the Philippines capital. He then laid a wreath at the Rizal Monument in memory of José Rizal, patriot and martyr, executed on Bagumbayan Field in 1896.
