PNG gives Solomon Island K20 million

An aid grant of twenty million kina was presented tothe Solomon Islands government by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill in Honiara last week Friday.

The grant isthe first of a one hundred million kina grant in aid froPNG tothe Solomon Islands, to futher strenthen bilateral cooperation.

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill was welcomed atthe airport by staff and members ofthe Solomon Islands government.

Mr O’Neill proceeded on to meet with Solomon Islands Prime Minister to renewthPNG-Solomon Islands bilateral cooperation.

Mr O’Neill said giventhe recent positive economic growth levels in PNG it was important to assist neighbouring pacific island communities.

The aid grant will be given over a period of five years. The first twenty million kina aid was presented to Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo.

Prime Minister O’Neill also paid a courtesy call on Solomon Islands Governor General Sir Frank Kabui.

He expressePNG’s support for the people of Solomon Islands to invest and pursue professional careers in PNG
