PNG Games Selections Ramp Up

The National Capital District (NCD) is in full swing with its selection trials for volleyball, rugby nines, boxing, hockey, netball and others for the upcoming PNG Games in Kimbe.

Team NCD is expected to have a total contingent of 500 plus athletes, coaches and technical officials heading to West New Britain.

Meanwhile, Kimbe, Rabaul, Lae, Central, Gulf and others centres around the country are also in preparations for the games. Provinces around the country are already gearing up for this year’s event, with respective provincial teams hosting trial matches and attending national events around the country to make final selections for their individual provinces.

So far provinces such as Morobe ,East New Britain, West New Britain, NCD and Central are already ahead of their training and are at the final stages of team selections.

For team NCD alone, they have already started with trail matches in volleyball, netball, basketball, rugby nines, hockey and darts.

Team East New Britain is running its youth competitions to select teams in various sporting codes such a rugby league and taekwondo.

Meanwhile, with all preparations underway including facilities in the host town, West New Britain is expected to accommodate over 10,000 athletes and officials from around the country.
