PNG Football Association Elite Development

Papua New GuineaFootball Association has moverd to improver coaching.

A workshop was held in Lae on this.

The Elite Academy Workshop isthe pilot program both in Papua New Guineaand Vanuatu. Focusing more on football developmentothis approach will help players have different outlook into how football is organized and played.

Dimirit MilengPNGFA General Secretary said “The focus now is to try and work togther withthe youths and hopefully with a new crop of players coming through. We can begin to see some change inthe way we play andthe results we encounter.”

The program will later spread to ther Asia and Pacific Islands who are affiliated withthe Oceania Football Confederation.

The workshop targets boys and girls betweenthe ages of 15 and 16.

Lae inthe Morobe Province isthe first to undergo this program which is anticipated to slowly extend to ther centres.

The Asia Pacific Football Academy is a full-time education and football program based in Christchurch, New Zealand, andthe aim is to maximizethe potential of every athlete that comes intothe program as well astheir pathway. The Elite Development program will help youths, senior levels andthe National Soccer League advance futher in development.
