The recent promotion of three PNG Defence Force (PNGDF) officers marks the transformation of the force into the future, says Chief of Force Preparation, Colonel Siale Diro.

Wives and children, Acting Chief of Staff, Colonel Jeremy Ramsden, and other officers were present to witness the recent ceremony.

Major Ivan Timo was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and posted as Provost Marshall, Major Raphael Yapu promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and posted as Commanding Officer 2nd Battalion Pacific Islands Regiment (2RPIR) Moem Barracks, and Lieutenant Robin Gaius promoted to Lieutenant Commander and posted as staff officer Grade 2, Directorate of Officer Management.

Speaking on behalf of the officers, Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Timo said this is an indication that the Defence Council and senior officers of the PNGDF have trust in their ability and capability to perform.

Acting Chief of Staff, Jeremy Ramsden, said the recent promotions are very important because it recognises individual’s confidence, service and long hours of work.

These leaders will champion the transformation of the organisation into the future.

Colonel Diro also acknowledged the support and contributions from their families, especially women and children.
