PMPC2016 Underway

Representatives from broadcasters across the Asia-Pacific region have gathered in Port Moresby for the Pacific Media Partnership Conference 2016 (PMPC 2016).

This is the first time the conference has been held in Papua New Guinea, with leading broadcaster EMTV playing host to this occasion.

Addressing participants this morning, EMTV CEO, Bhanu Sud, acknowledged the support of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) in selecting PNG to play host to this conference.

“Papua New Guinea remains the gateway to the Pacific Region, and the support of ABU in having this conference in PNG is vital, especially at a time when the media landscape in PNG is changing,” he said.

The theme of PMPC 2016 is ‘Collaborating for Broadcasting’, and will include workshops on digital broadcasting, as well as a workshop on Tuna and the Economy (Tunanomics) for PNG reporters.

The Pacific Media Partnership Conference 2016 ends this Friday.
