PM: Visits Wabag and Kompiam

The O’Neill-Dion Government is focused on stability and economic growth inthe next four years. Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill madethe announcement tothe people of Enga Province during his two day visit.

Enga Province is made up of five districts, Kompiam Ambung, Lagai Pogera, Wapenamanda, Kandep and Wabag.

 

The Prime Minister made an aerial visit ofthe province and visited only two districts, Wabag and Kompiam.

 

He concluded that Enga had some ofthe best maintained schools and health centres inthe country withthe likes ofthe recently launched Enga teachers college and Sopas Nursing College and Hospital.

 

PM :'Neill congratulatedthe Provincial Government for takingthe lead in delivering such vital services.

 

The Prime Minister announced that 1.4 billion kina will be allocated every year to each ofthe provincial and district treasury offices to supportthe free education and health policies.

He also stated that anther 1.5 billion kina will be allocated to each province and district to develop ther sectors.

 

Enga, similar to ther parts ofthe highlands region, have infrastructure challenges, mainly due to its geographical settings and climate.

 

The provincial government admitted its failures in some of its infrastructure development such as: roads, police logistics and buildings, and growing ofthe SME’sector inthe provinces. Now with full backing fromthe national government,the lLeadersare confident Enga will become a model province.

 

The Prime Minister urged respective lLeaderspresent to manage and allocatethese funds accordingly and growthe economy at a provincial and district level.

 

He said government inthe next four years will closely monitor and make surethe provinces and districts are developed.
