Prime Ministers’ Message to Team PNG

At just 4 days away from the opening ceremony of the 2015 Pacific Games, Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, has congratulated the members of Team PNG who will be representing the country.

He said that for many of the athletes, the Games is a once in a lifetime experience to compete at the top level on home soil.

He urged all athletes to give their best and enjoy the spirit of the Games. 

Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, was at the EMTV studio’s this afternoon to deliver an encouraging message to the athletes of Team PNG.

He said all athletes, coaches and officials are where they are because of their commitment to sporting excellence.

PM O’Neill said, “Regardless of whether you earn a place on the podium, all that your country asks is that you honour our national team by giving your best.”

The Prime Minister reiterated that those who achieve Gold will be rewarded with K20,000.

In an interview with EMTV’s Lorraine Genia, on her show Road to Port Moresby 2015, Mr O’Neill also announced incentives for other medals. He said Silver Medallists will get K10,000 while Bronze Medallists will get K5,000 each.

He reminded the athletes to be good ambassadors and to enjoy the Spirit of the Games.

“Good luck and go for Gold.”
