Prime Minister Peter O’Neill met withthe Finance and Petroleum and Energy Ministersto discuss commitments to Hela Province underthPNG LNG project agreement.
He directedthe departments to provide details of all government commitments funded underthe Umbrella Benefit Sharing Agreementoand Licensed Besed Benefit Sharing Agreement.
He assured Hela province thatthe government will fund its commitments, but also called for tangible development whenthese commitments are met.
Also onthe subjectoMinister Maru announced new elections for the Post of Chairman for Petroleum Development License 8.
The Registrar of Companies will preside overthe elections to be held inthe next two weeks.
After elections,the government will bring in independent and competent management to ensure grants are managed properly. They will be supervised bythe Department of Trade, Commerce andIndustry.
