PM O’Neill Response To Arrest Warrant Proceedings

At 4pm this afternoon, a tired looking Prime Minister accompanied by senior government ministers addressed the media after the National Court threw out his application for a stay’Order on his arrest.

O'Neill says he respects the court's decision and will go in for questioning if requested by Police, emphasizing that the acting commissioner now has the power to excercise his constitutional duty.

He welcomed Geoffrey Vaki's decision to go through the Paraka files before making any decision.

However the Prime Minister still maintains that the circumstances surrounding the warrant of arrest for his arrest are suspicious, claiming that persons with political motives are behind all this.

He explained that the reason for him restraining the warrant initially was to bring credibility to the office of the Prime Minister and the government.

The PM is dismayed at how this political dilemma has eroded investor confidence.

He is also questioning the legality of the warrant which is also now at the district court.
