PM Encourages Pacific Games Athletes

Four thousand athletes and officials are expected to participate in Port Moresby for the 2015 Pacific Games. This will be the third time the games will be hosted on Papua New Guinea’s soil.

Prime Minister Peter O&rsquO’Neill who visited the Games Village, Sir John Guise Stadium and the Taurama Aquatic Centre, encouraged Papua New Guinean athletes to do their best and make the country proud. With the facilities being upgraded to the best in the region for the Games, the government has done their part and Team PNG athletes should do the same.

The Government of Papua New Guinea has been a strong supporter of sport in the country, with incentives such as the Go For Gold funding which provides supports for athletes financially, to achieve their sporting potential.

With the Games only months away, Papua New Guinea is preparing to host the largest sporting event in the Pacific, and the Government wants the 2015 Pacific Games to be the best ever held.

All Team PNG’sports are gearing up to for the Pacific Games, working closing with the PNG Olympic Committee and the High Performance Training Centre.
