Prime Minister Peter Ou2019Neill on Sunday 20th May assured the people of Maprik that the government is ready to declare Central Sepik as a province of its own.
He made the remarks on a recent visit to Maprik. Ou2019Neill said it is difficult to manage a province as big as East Sepik, where many districts and wards are overlooked in the delivery of services.
Ou2019Neill said Maprik will have a good opportunity once separated with leaders able to take ownership and better manage the area.
He made a commitment to release K5 million next week to begin operations to rebuild and upgrade the Central Sepik airstrip.
