While tension between the police and the military has risen in Fiji for the past few months, another threat has risen for Fijian government.
Email correspondence between some Fijian locals and overseas anti-government elements; have communicated a plot to assassinate all the members of the Fijian Government.
The assassination plot however was identified by Rajneel Singh, a café owner.
Rajneel discovered the email after a customer left the café leaving his email open. He then reported the issue.
The plan included the date of the attack stating that the attack was to take place during a parliament sitting where the Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum was to be present and that all should be dead.
The email also revealed individual participation including some of the police and the military.
While terrorism has been a security concern globally, this move is now seen as a threat to the Fijian government and Fiji as a whole.
Investigations are currently being conducted to identify those involved in the assasination plan.
