The Petroleum and Energy Headquarters in Port Moresby came under attack at 12 noon yesterday (21 November 2018).
Angry Landowners from PDL 1 and 7 entered the main gate on two truckloads and starting throwing stones at the building.
The attack comes 24 hours after the rampage at the National Parliament House.
The staff were caught by surprise and much of the office equipment destroyed. Security guards manning the gates described the attack as violent and a number of senior public servants were injured.
The initial fight erupted over delayed royalty payments followed by a rampage of stone hurled at the department offices. EMTV News can confirm that those involved in the fight are in custody at the Badili police station.
A total of 29 people are being detained.
Some of the landowners who are in custody were also seriously injured and received treatment from St. John’s at the station.
