Pepes Qualify for the for 2014 Commonwealth Games

PNG Pepes Netball team has qualiflied for the 2014 Commonwealth Games after an impressive win over Cook Islands atthe Pacific Netball Series.

Led by skipper Winnie Mavara,the Pepes beatthe Cooks 67 goals to 54 to cap off a successful Pacific Series in Samoa.

 

Beisbane based duo of goal shooter and attack, Tiata Beldwin and Maleta Roberts played a key role in plotting points for the team.

 

Coach Ani Iamo is ecstatic withthe result as it has been a long while sincethe Pepes pulled off a win atthe Pacific Series meet. The 2013 Pacific Netball Series saw Fiji finish first followed bPNG in second place followed by host country, Samoa while Cook Islands wrapped upthe final placing.

 

The win has qualifliedthe team tothe Glasgow games next year.

 

ThPNG Pepes return to Port Moresby this Sunday.
