People Encouraged To Use Water Wisely

With the decrease in water level by almost fifty percent at the Sirinumu Dam, people in the Nations’ Capital are encouraged to use water and electricity wisely.

PNG Power is urging all residences to turn off all electrical appliances not in use, to save energy. And for water usage, people are asked not to water gardens, and use buckets when washing their vehicles.

The situation is not as yet critical, but as precaution matters, PNG Power is asking the general public to help cut down on their use of electricity.

The General Public must understand the more electricity they use, the more water is needed to produce more electricity. But with half the water level at the dam gone, PNG Power is using less turbines to produce power.

Eda Ranu was not able to comment on this matter, but NCD residents are advised to use less water for consumption and report any pipe leakages in the city.

With the increase in the number of new buildings in the city, PNG Power is yet to design proper mechanisms to control the amount of electricity being used.
