Prior to the official start of the APEC Ministerial Meeting in the Philippines, PNG’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigaration, Rimbink Pato, met with Singapore’s Senior Minister for State, Dr. Mohamad Maliki Osaman.

Minister Pato stressed that PNG can learn from Singapore’s experience in managing water resources and sanitation, and also Singapore’s experience in caring for the aged and the physically challenged.

So far in regards to training, the Singapore Technical Cooperation Program has benefited many Papua New Guineans.

On international cooperation, Minister Maliki Osaman acknowledges PNG’s continued support in their membership to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and International Civil Aviation Oraganisation and further added that these international arrangements secure safe air apace and shipping lanes in enabling connectivity through transportation.

Both ministers encouraged high-level exchanges to further deepen economic cooperation, and Singapore was encouraged to tap into the PNGLNG Project in terms of marketing and financing.
