Patel Looks Back after Emirates Tour

The Hebou PNG Barramundis are currently on a week-long break after returning from the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.

Head Coach, Dipak Patel, spoke to EMTV Sports today about the Emirates Tour.

Despite the sour defeats in the World Cricket League Championship and the Inter-Continental Cup, Coach Patel says the Barramundis also gained a lot.

He acknowledges that the home side, the Emirates, had home ground advantage, and they used it wisely.

Though there were certain instances his team could have done a lot better.

In both the WCL and the ICUP, the defeats in the Emirates, has not affected their standing on the ladder and they have four more rounds to go before both competitions wrap up.

Using the UAE experience as a stepping stone, the Barramundis will go full swing into training for their Australia Tour in September.

Patel say, if the Barras finish in the top 4, they get to retain their ODI status as well as a World Cup Qualifying spot.

Right now they are 2nd to Netherlands by only two points, and it is important they win in round 6.

Meanwhile, Coach Dipak Patel was asked about the incident where a UAE wicket Keeper ousted Batsman Lega Siaka illegally in the third ODI.

A disappointed coach said, despite efforts by the Barras Captain to ask for an overrule of the Wicket keeper’s appeal, even though it was clear the glove was used instead of the ball, the Umpires ruled in favor of the home side.

That eventually changed the course of the game, the Barras were defeated in 2 -1 in the WCL ODI round 5.
