Parkop Signs Road Contracts for NCD

Complaints about congestion in NCD are almost constant but something is being done about it now.

At least two new roads are to be constructed costing 318 million kina. An agreement on that was signed today between NCD Governor Powes Parkop andthe China Habour Engineering Company.

A sum of K122 million will be used to upgrade, seal and maintain drainage for the Gerehu to 9 mile road while K196 million will cater for the four lane Badihagwa – Gerehu road.  

Governor Parkop’said this is a vital facet and a must investment whilPNG’s economy is growing.

Vice General Manager for China Harbour Engineering Limited, Deng Be, said over 50 professional engineers will establishthe foundation work.

Work will begin as soon as technical and financial details are sorted out withthe National Government.

Meanwhile negotiations for 2 more contracts are underway. Governor Parkop also said he is planning to moverthe Port as well.

He said it’s about timethe National Government helpedthe NCDC to expandthe city roads.
